WE CAUGHT up with local band Kirkhouse to find out what inspired them to begin their musical careers, as well as who their biggest influences are, and more.

Kirkhouse is a fresh off the press Pembrokeshire band that describes themselves as an “anthemic, acoustic act”.

The group consists of guitarist and singer Kyle Kirkhouse, 21, bassist Tom Lloyd, 22, and drummer Aaron Williamson, 24. The trio came together about three months ago. However, that hasn’t stopped them venturing as far as Cardiff to share their unique sound.

Closer to home the band make regular appearances at Labyrinth, Haverfordwest and The Queens Hall, Narberth.

Ultimately, their sights are set on Reading and Greenman Festival.

In the studio, Kirkhouse will be recording their long awaited debut EP later this summer.

One thing is for certain, the commitment and aspiration of Kyle, Tom and Aaron is undeniable.

Lead singer Kyle said: “We all really want to pursue music and push the band and ourselves as far as we can go.”

Inspired by the likes of Hudson Taylor to Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the trio demonstrate an incredibly diverse array of musical talent.

The biggest spur for the band is hearing people sing along to their lyrics when performing live.

Kyle said: “It’s a feeling you can't match to anything else!”

If you want to catch Kirkhouse live them make sure to head over to The Queens Hall on Saturday, June 28, and also The Tiddly on Saturday, July 5. For more information, search Kirkhouse on Facebook.
