Set in the picturesque landscape of the Cardigan countryside, G?yl Crug Mawr is a music festival for all the family taking place on Friday 22 & Saturday 23 August , with a wide range of offerings, from sword and shield building and other free activities for children, to some of Wales' best bands and DJs.

Named after the famous battle of Crug Mawr that took place on the hills near the site, there is a distinct local feel to the festival. Offering opportunities to local bands is a priority, as is using local companies such as Corryn Du and Mafon, both of whom are running stages this year.

The festival is the brain child of local farmer and owner of the site, Richard 'Oernant' Jones, who has brought together a group of like-minded people with the aim of creating a Welsh language event for people from the surrounding area as well as from all across Wales. The festival is in its second year, after a successful début in 2013, large crowds are expected and thus the number of bands and activities have increased.

This year, headlining the main stage are H a'r Band; the remnants of Edward H Dafis, by far the most popular Welsh language band of all time. Joining them are Candelas, Swnami and Plu, three bands who have worked incredibly hard over past years and are now being mentored by the BBC's Gorwelion/Horizons project. There will also be over 30 other well known Welsh bands and Corryn Du’s Dance Tent will go on till around 3am on both nights. For the full line up and further information visit www.crugmawr.com

During the day on Saturday 23 August, there will be various FREE activities for busy children, with bat-box building, sing-along sessions, a bird of prey display and ukelele workshops. Various foods and drinks will be on offer to enjoy whilst watching the bands on the new outdoor stage, before the sun goes down and the main stage comes to life.
