SOME of the best names in jazz will be paying Pembrokeshire a visit this month.

Peppers, in Fishguard, is gaining a strong reputation with audiences and musicians a like for showing a great range of live music, with a current emphasis on cutting edge jazz.

First up in its November listings is duo Tricko, who will be joined by James Maddren on drums.

The latest project from Mercury Music Award nominee Kit Downes, Tricko sees 'one of the finest pianists of his generation' join forces with cellist Lucy Railton, forming a pairing that is at once both dark and detailed, colourful and contemplative.

Having studied together at the Royal Academy of Music, their paths continued to cross in London's improvised/new-music scenes until Kit finally started writing for cello - vicariously living out his dream as a frustrated cellist.

Performing music from their previous EP and forthcoming album Tricko-Tareco, their music is expansive in scope, and sonically rich.

For more details and the chance to listen to some of Kit’s tracks as well as the other artists coming later on this month at Peppers, visit www.pepper-hub.co.uk/events.

The gig starts at 8pm on Thursday, November 13.
