THE award-winning Welsh theatre company Dirty Protest brings Last Christmas to the Torch Theatre on Friday December 5 at 7.45pm.

A hit with audiences and critics alike this one-man show is not to be missed. Audiences announced that it made them laugh, cry and want to phone their fathers and that Sion Pritchard’s compelling performance “broke my heart, then mended it again.”

The company, co-founded by playwright Tim Price, also wowed the critics with four and five star reviews across the board at Edinburgh Festival. The Scotsman said the award-winning Welsh company’s production was “one of the best things on the Fringe” (5*s) and the Guardian’s Lyn Garner called it a “little cracker” of a play. Even Jeremy Paxman called it a “tour de force” and a “wonderful piece of writing”.

Returning home for Christmas, Tom is confronted with the ghosts of his past. Forced to face his demons, he attempts to rescue his family and his future. Will Tom be able to save it all in time?

Last Christmas follows Tom, played by Sion Pritchard (Blink, Muscle), as he attempts to deal with a whole year of family anguish on Christmas eve, with a hangover.

For writer Matthew Bulgo this emotional, but funny, play, is one that is very close to his heart.

He said: “It would be too simplistic to say that Last Christmas is autobiographical but there's certainly a lot of me in it. It was a very personal play to write."

The show starts at 7.45pmand tickets cost £10.50 (£9.50 concessions).
