ST DAVIDS Folk Festival returns to the stunning location of the Bishop’s Palace on Saturday, July 25.

Now in its fourth year, the family friendly Celtic music event has become a highly anticipated fixture in the Welsh cultural calendar.

On the bill for 2015 are Jamie Smith’s Mabon, a band described as being “one of Wales’s finest performers of original Celtic music, exploring all forms and styles of the Celtic tradition.”

Mabon are joined by Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick, a singer, songwriter, actress and poet from County Cavan. She will be joined on stage with her new trio, the Darling Buds.

Dublin Magazine has described her style as sitting “somewhere between the most optimistic Joni Mitchell and the bewitching Sean Nos singers of time gone by.

“Fiona Maria is reinventing the Irish ballad for today’s music lovers with her talent for story-telling and her beautiful lilting tones.”

Also on the bill are Tim and Sarah Williams and band, who will be performing songs from their critically acclaimed ‘Lost Birds’ album, local singer songwriter Mike Chant and friends, Rob Rees and friends, and Lowri Evans, who has been nominated for Welsh Artist of the Year.

The festival runs from 6pm to 11pm and tickets cost £17.50 for adults, £5 for secondary school children and primary school children go free.

Bring your own picnic with rugs or camping chairs and to be on the safe side an umbrella or two. There will be bars and stalls available.
