AFTER a fantastic debut last month, Pembrokeshire's dirtiest new dance night returns this Friday.

More than 100 people attended the first Substantial Sound night, organised by local performers Derren Heath and Charlie Willatts, to hear a healthy mix of tracks played on a powerful 5kw JBL professional sound system.

This weekend sees a new line-up of local talent take to the decks, in this last event before Christmas.

DirtyBear - aka Joe Shaw describes himself as a multi-genre mixologist from St Davids, who mashes bass-heavy funk, breaks, hip hop, DnB, reggae and dub.

Expect a dose of transcendent remix funk flexes that develop into a tribal stomp fest of insatiable bass and beats from Tricky Trickstar, aka Dave Leicester.

Tom Colquhoun (Kiwi Funk) has released tracks on Plasmapool, Monochrome Music, Heavenly Bodies Records, Dash Deep Records, Eleonor Records and Bedroomrecords09, and been aired on BBC radio.

He has been heavily influenced by electronic music scene of the early 2000s; inspired by the sounds of Daft Punks Homework album, he has been producing music for a couple of years now and what makes him different is that he uses no software nor computer to do so.

Just an MC-909 and a Korg Electribe are enough for him to create his signature old-school sound.

Headlining, with a vintage jungle set will be Paco Bergson, who first started out on the early 90s rave scene.

He started producing his own tracks towards the end of the decade, and has since released material on Carbon Logic, Criminal Records and Jungletrain Recordings.

He has been played on Radio 1 and Rinse FM, and hosts his own show on Jungletrain.net.

And rounding off the line-up will be London-born DJ Buzzby.

Substantial Sound takes place this Friday, December 11, from 10pm until 3am, at El Rio, Quay Street, Haverfordwest.
