TOP tenor Rhys Meirion will be one of a galaxy of international and local stars singing in a major Rotary fundraising concert on Saturday.

And there's a special treat in store when he will be singing a duet with Pembrokeshire's own star tenor Trystan Llyr Griffiths.

Rotarian John Hughes said: "Many of your readers will have enjoyed Rhys’ ‘Deuawdau’ (Duets) programme on S4C and we are very pleased to confirm that Rhys and Trystan will be singing a duet at Folly Farm during our concert."

Tickets have been selling fast but there are still seats available.

Also on the bill at the Follies Theatre, Folly Farm are Whitland and District Male Voice Choir together with highly promising young local singers Sioned Llewelyn and Esyllt Thomas (soprano) and Aaron Kendall (baritone).

Rhys Meirion is a member of the Three Welsh Tenors who have performed all over the world and have not long returned from Canada and America.

He is a regular presenter on the television programme Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol (Songs of Praise) on S4C and also had his own radio show on Sunday mornings on BBC Radio Wales.

His concert highlights have included a gala concert at the Royal Albert Hall with Bryn Terfel, his BBC Prom debut at the opening night of the BBC Proms (televised on BBC2) and Karl Jenkins’ 70th birthday at the Carnegie Hall, New York.

Rhys does a lot for charity and he has completed three 200 mile celebrity sponsored walks to support Welsh Air Ambulance for whom he is an Ambassador and this is one of the charities this concert is supporting. Another charity close to his heart is organ donation.

Whitland and District Male Voice Choir meanwhile have just returned from a highly successful tour to the Isle of Man and are very much looking forward to the concert.

All the artists are performing a wide variety of songs that should appeal to all tastes from popular musical theatre, Welsh classics and well known operatic arias.

Enquiries for tickets can be made to Liz Burns on 01834 860686 or 07770 611463, who will have tickets that can be collected at the door on the evening.

Proceeds will support Wales Air Ambulance, Kidney Wales Foundation, Paul Sartori, and Prostate Cymru.
