THE Abbey Shakespeare Players will present Macbeth at St Dogmaels Abbey from Wednesday, August 1–Saturday, August 4.

As loyal military commander Macbeth returns from success on the battlefield, he is given a glimpse of future greatness by three mysterious women.

Urged on by his ambitious wife, Macbeth turns their prophecy of power into bloody reality. Paranoia, guilt and fate become entwined in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.

“It’s a tightly-wrapped thriller that still speaks to audiences 400 years on,” says director Amy Levene.

“The play questions the motivations of our leaders and explores how personal grudges, emotions and ambitions can have wider political consequences.”

With live music and exciting stagecraft, this 32nd production by the Abbey Shakespeare Players embraces the unique and haunting atmosphere of the St Dogmaels Abbey ruins.

The performances take place at 8pm and tickets, costing £10, £8 concessions, are available from Theatr Mwldan box office, Cardigan, on 01239 621200, www.mwldan.co.uk or at the gate on the evening.

This is an outdoor production so dress warmly. Seating is provided. There is an alternative indoor venue in case of heavy rain.
