One of the country’s finest and most original comedians and impressionists, Phil Cool, will be live at Theatr Mwldan tonight (Friday) as part of his latest UK tour.

Phil’s dextrous impressions and surreal comic sketches take us into a world where anything seems possible and the absurd seems credible. A stand-up chameleon, he punctuates his show with a wealth of hilarious anecdotes, observations and routines that make him as funny and unique today as he was during the 1980s.

Speaking to the Western Telegraph, Phil said the show will be “completely different from one minute to the next”.

He said: “It will include an underwater routine which involves a hump-backed whale, a seahorse, a dolphin and David Attenborough, and a ventriloquist routine with no dummy! I’ll also be talking about Elvis Presley impersonators and doing a routine on ‘Faceology’ – the science of the use of the face – plus of course my usual monologues and impressions and songs.”

Phil Cool became a household name overnight in the early 1980s, when Jasper Carrott decided to take an active hand in furthering his career. In 1983 he appeared as a regular on the infamous O.T.T. Spin-off Saturday Stayback, and in 1984 he became the warm-up man for the satirical show Spitting Image. He was also one of the voice artists on the show, providing the voices for Boy George, Holly Johnson and Mick Jagger for the first two series.

The gig in Cardigan will not be Phil’s first visit to the area.

Phil said: “I have done many shows to great success. I even worked in Pembroke when I was an electrician – at Pembroke Power Station. I love coming to Wales, I always seem to have an excellent audience who really want to come and enjoy themselves.”

Tickets for Phil Cool at Theatr Mwldan tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm are £15 or £14 for concessions. Book online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the box office on 01239 621200.
