Suspended sentences handed out over Haverfordwest bank sex act

A woman who was captured on CCTV performing a sexual act on a man in the foyer of Lloyds TSB in Haverfordwest, did not get any gratification from being in public, a court has heard.

Former partners Gareth Robin Healey , aged 23, of Priory Court, Haverfordwest and Phillipa Audrey Botting, aged 23, previously of the same address, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency at Haverfordwest magistrates court last month.

Healey and Botting were handed suspended sentences in separate hearings at Haverfordwest magistrates court yesterday (Monday).

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that at around 6.30pm on Wednesday February 13th, a woman was by the taxi rank with her 10-year-old niece, when she noticed a group of rowdy men and women.

A man and woman from the group moved towards the cash point at Lloyds TSB and behaved in a sexual manner, before going into the foyer.

The 10-year-old girl told her aunty she could see the couple "being disgusting" through the window and described what she could see.

The court heard the girl was very upset by what she had seen and had to be calmed down after.

The woman rang the police and officers identified Botting and Healey from CCTV footage.

Healey was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 24 months, with a 24-month supervision order including an alcohol activity programme and 180 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £150 costs and a £80 victim surcharge.

Healey pleaded guilty to stealing ten cans of Stella Artois in Whitland on February 7th, which he was given a four week suspended sentence for, as well as a further two four week suspended sentence for matters handed over from a court in Chichester.

Botting was also sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 24 months, with a 24-month supervision order including an alcohol activity programme and 220 hours unpaid work. She was also sentenced for four thefts between August 30th and January 31st, and biting a police constable on the forearm in Pembroke on February 6th.

Botting was given four week sentences for each of the thefts and an eight week sentence for assaulting a police officer, suspended for 24 months.

She was also ordered to pay £59.50 compensation for the thefts, £200 to the police officer, a £80 victim surcharge and £200 costs.

Mark Layton, defending Botting, told the court his client had not experienced any sexual gratification from the public nature of the offence.
