Police officers who targeted a Pembrokeshire heroin gang that was sent down for 16 years last week have welcomed the sentences imposed.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers worked on Operation Kenya and Templar, which targeted the supply of heroin into the county and recovered drugs worth £20,000.

As the Western Telegraph reported, Patrick John Moane, 32 Michael Joseph Ryan, 20, Ryan McGrath 42, Mark Nicholas Jones, 35 and martin james Corbin, aged 29, were all given prison terms.

Detective Sergeant Richard Lewis said: "We welcome these sentences, which send a clear signal out to the criminal fraternity that drug offences will not be tolerated in Dyfed-Powys and officers will do their utmost to bring cases to court.

“This complex and protracted investigation demonstrates Dyfed-Powys police commitment to investigate all drug offences and bring those responsible to justice.

“This outcome is the result of an operation conducted by Dyfed-Powys Police into the trafficking of substantial quantities of Class A drugs, namely heroin, into Pembrokeshire from the Merseyside area.”

The Prosecution case demonstrated that between the August 2011 and the summer of 2012 heroin was supplied to users in Milford Haven.

This significant drug operation was orchestrated by Moane with Corbin and McGrath also playing a leading role.

The other members of the group also conspired to supply drugs within Pembrokeshire.
