Pembrokeshire League Division One soccer round-up: Merlins Bridge 9 - Tenby 0.

A DISASTROUS season got worse for a visiting Tenby side when they were given a nine goal thrashing at the hands of Merlins Bridge on Saturday.

It took the Wizards only 15 minutes to forge ahead when Shaun Halpin's shot rebounded off the Tenby keeper Lewis Hurlow leaving Brett Shakir to smash the ball into the back of the net from 10 yards.

A few minutes later the home side increased their lead when Ben Skudder found the top left corner from a tight angle.

On 22 minutes Shakir got his second finding the top right corner with an 18-yard free kick.

Bridge continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded a few moments later when Peter Thomas got on the end of a low cross from Sean Halpin and tap the ball in from close range.

Shakir completed his hat trick on 30 minutes heading the ball home from a Kevin Phillips cross.

The Bridge got number six just before half-time when Peter Thomas set Sean Halpin up with a low through ball.

The best goal of the game came on 65 minutes when Kevin Phillips went on a 50 yard run beating the Tenby defence before slotting the ball in from 15 yards.

Shakir scored his fourth ten minutes later when Peter Thomas shot off the Tenby keeper Hurlow.

The ninth goal came moments before the final whistle when Carl Mason headed his way onto the score sheet from a Chris Wilson cross completing a resounding victory that left bottom of the league Tenby still searching for their first point.
