Dyfed-Powys Police says that several roads around the Merlins Bridge roundabout area which were closed following the tanker and crane collision this morning, could remain closed for up to 24 hours.
A police spokesman said: "Dyfed–Powys Police and partner agencies including Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Pembrokeshire County Council, South Wales Trunk Road Agency and Natural Resources Wales are dealing with an incident on Merlins Hill roundabout, Haverfordwest.
"At approximately 06:40 this morning an RTC involving a fuel tanker and a crane occurred. No injuries have been reported.
"As a result a substantial amount of fuel has leaked from the ruptured tanker.
"Specialist equipment is being used to remove the fuel spillage and the road is going to be closed for a protracted period of time, up to 24 hours.
"The roads closed are Johnston Road (A4776), Old Hakin Road, Freemans Way and Pembroke Road – diversions are in place, and will remain so until the area has been made safe. A spokesperson from Public Health Wales said: “Based on the information currently available, we regard the potential impact on public health as minimal. We will continue to work with partner agencies to assess the situation if new information becomes available.”
