A PEMBROKESHIRE badminton club is appealing for more female players to join its beginners squad.
The Pembrokeshire Badminton Association is appealing for more ladies to get involved in the game at The Meads Leisure Centre on Friday mornings.
Badminton Wales coach and development officer for Pembrokeshire, Phil Gwyther said: "Most mixed clubs have only a few ladies playing and yet it's a great game which combines a lot of fun and fitness and suits all ages.
"It's likely that lady beginners are put off from starting with clubs as usually there is no coaching and new players are just thrown in at the deep end, and have to hope for the best.
"But a beginners' course just for ladies at Haverfordwest last Autumn went down very well, and now a regular group plays at the Dome while some have gained enough confidence to also join in with the mixed clubs."
It is now hoped that a similar course at The Meads will also take off, and a fresh group of lady players will be able to enjoy the fun of learning a new sport.
Phil added: "So if you're a lady looking for a fun way to get fit and meet other like-minded ladies, why not get along to the Meads and book your place."
