A WARM hat could be a good Christmas present for a young Milford Haven woman who will be shaving her head for charity next month.

Lauren Jenkins, age 24, will be shaving her hair off for four charities on December 20 in Cuts and Curls, Pill Road.

Her chosen charities, The Stroke Association and Diabetes UK are two National Charities close to her heart after her grandfather, Terrance Jenkins suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012.

The other charities, Paul Sartori Foundation, and Green Acres Animal Rescue, are both local charities.

Lauren's Great Grandfather, Howard Jenkins was a great supporter of Paul Sartori, choosing to raise money for them on his 100th birthday instead of receiving gifts; the family also chose to collect donations in lieu of flowers for the charity when he passed away aged 103.

As an animal lover and supporter of Green Acres, the importance of raising money for the charity, especially around Christmas when the rescue is likely to fill up with unwanted Christmas pets and is in need of donations whilst they are at full capacity is important to her.

Lauren said: "My hair is a big part of who I am, so for me to shave it off is a big deal. I can't imagine losing my hair through illness. I just want to give something back to help others and this is how I've chosen to do it." Donations can be made online on http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/laurengoesbald or in person at any Green Acres charity shop or Cut and Curls hairdressers in Milford Haven.
