  • "Dear Independent Plus Member
I write at this time of significant interest with regard to our current Senior Staff pension policy following the public interest report issued by the WAO. I have had the opportunity to speak at length with a number of you about some of the issues raised and I’m sure many of you will have had conversations with constituents who will be asking further questions. If any Group Member wishes to telephone/email/spea
k to me on this matter (or any other) please as ever, don’t hesitate to get in touch
I would also be interested to hear your views as to whether you wish to meet next week as a Group to discuss the matter
    Best regards
    Jamie

This is an e mail sent by Jamie Adams to the IPPG members. His time would be better spent sorting out the problems at the Kremlin. His comments shall we meet as a group further suggests this is a political party."

Assembly Member calls for Pembrokeshire council chief exec to be suspended

Milford Mercury: Assembly Member calls for Pembrokeshire council chief exec to be suspended Assembly Member calls for Pembrokeshire council chief exec to be suspended

An Assembly Member has called for a suspension of chief council officers and an investigation into the salaries and pensions of council bosses, by all councillors in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

Mid and West Wales AM Simon Thomas asked an emergency question in the Senedd about the salaries and pensions of senior council officers in light of the damning Wales Audit Office reports into Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire Council.

Plaid AM Simon Thomas said: “In light of the Wales Audit Office reports specifically on Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire and the unlawful payments made, chief officers should be suspended until a full council investigation takes place. I demanded the Local Government Minister supported this proposal and asked her to call for this action publicly.

“The governance and scrutiny of senior officers’ remuneration is central to securing public trust in their councils.

“Scrutiny committees and auditors must review these reports and ensure that the spirit as well as the letter of the law has been followed.

“I called for the Welsh Government to apply the rules to those practices that have allowed creative accounting measures from some chief officers to fill their boots such as deferred pension arrangements, car leasing, and other perks.”

The Local Government Minister said she could not comment on the audit reports because the police are liaising with the CPS.
