A SITE visit is going to be carried out before a decision is made on wind turbine plans for Sardis.

The application was considered by members of Pembrokeshire’s planning committee on Tuesday, February 4.

It sought permission to erect an Endurance E-3210 50Kw wind turbine, measuring 34 metres in height, on land south of Nash Mountain Farm.

The council’s planning officers recommended that the application be approved subject to conditions. They include standard time limit for implementation, permission for the turbines to be for 25 years duration, and compliance with noise levels.

The applicant’s agent Martin Horne said: “The director of development's report clearly demonstrates that this application is compatible with the council’s Local Development Plan.

“Pre planning advice was sought and there was early engagement with the local authority.

“It is fully understandable that local residents have objections, but there are 87 letters of support.”

Speaking on behalf of the objectors, Alan Williams said: “The turbine is nothing more than a money-making exercise by the applicant.

“There are 50 plus properties around the site and they are not isolated.”

He invited councillors to come to the area and visit his house to see how the turbine was going to look.

Councillor Brian Hall’s motion to carry out a site visit was seconded by Cllr Rod Bowen. The vote was unanimous in favour.
