A YOUTH worker who has ‘innovated and inspired’ young people in Milford Haven for a decade has been shortlisted for an award.
Nick Hudd has been a full-time youth worker at Milford Haven Youth Centre for ten years.
He has been shortlisted in the ‘outstanding full-time youth worker’ category at the Youth Work in Wales Excellence Awards, which take place in Llandudno on February 20.
He provides a range of innovative and inspiring programmes in youth club, as well as thriving youth club sessions with average attendances reaching over 50.
Activities include opportunities for budding film makers in Oscar evenings, ‘Spokes’ cycle repair programmes, a community garden project, road safety events, and a daily Buddies Cafe in the Youth Centre, set up in partnership with Milford Youth Matters.
He also helped to initiate the Milford Haven Youth Council, which feeds into the Pembrokeshire Youth Forum and Funky Dragon, the national youth assembly.
The group have visited the Senedd, Westminster and had exchanges with similar groups in Sunderland and Edinburgh.
They were also instrumental in providing a Christmas meal and prize bingo for 50 local senior citizens.
“Nick is a tireless youth worker who has had a massive impact on the lives of young people,” said Eirian Evans, county youth officer.
