A CAFE project that helps young people get experience and training for the world of work has been short-listed for an award.

Buddies youth cafe project, based at Milford Haven youth centre, offers local young people the chance to a work in a small catering environment while improving employment-related skills and self-confidence.

A joint venture developed in partnership with Milford Youth Matters, young people are referred from Milford Comprehensive School and Jobcentre Plus.

Of the 14 young people enrolled on the project, 12 were identified as NEET (not in employment, education or training), 15 accreditations have been awarded, six have entered employment and one has gone on to further education.

The project has been nominated for its outstanding contribution to supporting young people into education, employment or training, and members will find out if it's won at the the annual Youth Work in Wales Excellence Awards on February 20.
