Woman was glad she glassed stranger outside Milford pub

A DAY visitor to Milford Haven told police she was glad she had glassed a stranger in the face.

Kellie Peach, aged 32, also told officers, “I hope every time he looks at his scars he remembers a woman did it.”

Peach admitted wounding David Clark outside the Alma pub in Priory Road.

Tom Scrapens, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court how Peach and her partner had been on a day trip to Milford from her home in Stockport.

He said Samantha Whelton had been parked outside the pub when Peach mistook her for someone else, reached in and removed the car ignition keys.

Miss Whelton returned to the pub and emerged with Mr Clark by her side.

A man with Peach put his pint glass on the roof of the car and began pushing Mr Clark.

Peach then poured the contents of the glass over him before smashing it into his face, causing a cut to his eyelid.

Mr Scrapens said paramedics had to remove fragments of glass from his face and he was lucky the injuries were not more serious.

Peach was arrested at the scene, where she told a police officer, “I’m glad I glassed him. He deserved it.

"I hope every time he looks at his scars he remembers a woman did it.”

Kate Williams, representing Peach, said she mistook Miss Whelton for a woman she had given money to for cheap tobacco, which had not been delivered.

She said she was a jobless mother of three and a former heroin user.

Mr Recorder John Jenkins said Peach had lost her temper.

“I don’t know what you thought you were doing.

"It was a completely unprovoked attack on a stranger.

“It is sheer good luck the glass did not strike him in the eye with disastrous consequences,” he added.

Peach was jailed for 12 months, suspended for two years and placed under supervision for 12 months.

She was also placed under a 9pm to 7am curfew for three months and told to pay Mr Clark £310 compensation, plus a £100 government surcharge.

Mr Recorder Jenkins said he did not want Mr Clark to think he valued his injury at only £310, but that was all Peach could afford to pay.
