TOWN councillors have expressed their disappointment at not being consulted on plans to build five 100-metre high wind turbines next to the Valero Refinery.

On Monday (March 10), members of Milford Haven Town Council’s public works and planning committee discussed a letter from a concerned resident in Angle, alerting them to the development.

Despite Milford Haven being outside the consultation area, councillors said that, as the turbines would be visible from the haven, they felt they should be included in the decision.

“In essence, if you can see the refinery, you can see the turbines,” said the letter.

Cllr Eric Harries proposed contacting Pembrokeshire County Council saying that, as the development would ‘impinge on the visual effect of Milford Haven’, councillors thought it ‘totally inappropriate’ that they hadn’t been informed.

He said the letter should also urge the county council to delay its decision on the application until town councillors have been given a chance to have their say on the matter.
