AN EVENING of dancing at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel has raised around £4,000 for two local children’s charities.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Milford Haven in conjunction with Valero, Strictly Charity Dancing was held on Saturday, March 29, and featured two dancing competitions, one for couples and one for ladies pairs.

Compere for the evening was fellow Rotarian Brain Harries - from neighbouring Haverfordwest club -and prizes were presented by Jim Hughes of Radio Pembrokeshire.

A raffle was held with many prizes donated by members and other sponsors and a Grand Charity Auction took place.

The star item in this was a personal guided tour of the Palace of Westminster by Stephen Crabb MP with accommodation donated by Travelodge.

Other items included a trip on a pilot boat donated by the Port of Milford Haven, and the use of a Daimler and chauffeur for a day.

A spokesman for the Rotary Club said the evening was “very successful and enjoyable”, and raised a fantastic amount to be shared between two charities - Pembrokeshire Sibling Group (PSG) and Barnardo's Pembrokeshire Family Link.

PSG was set up 15 years ago and offers activity workshops and residential trips to children and young people under 18 to give them and their families respite.

It also runs a drop-in club where children who have a brother or sister with a disability can share similar experiences, and have fun just being themselves.

Barnardo's Pembrokeshire works with disabled young people to help them access leisure activities and events across the county.
