TWO new parking bays have been built for Hakin residents, following concerns raised by local councillor Viv Stoddart.

The bays along Hakin Drive were constructed this spring by Pembrokeshire County Council.

Cllr Stoddart said she welcomed the ‘much-needed bays’, which she hopes “will go some way to alleviate the chronic shortage of parking facilities available to residents in my ward”

“Finding somewhere to park on the estate in the evenings and weekends is a nightmare for families.

“The estate was built in the late 50s, with the best of intentions to provide social housing for the community.

“The then design did not anticipate that we would become a car-owning society.

“I am pleased that despite a cash-strapped budget, the council, the contractors, and I have been able to work together to meet the needs of the residents in this location.”

The work was carried out as part of PCC’s Estate Parking Improvement programme and completed by contractor Alun Griffiths Ltd.
