TWO young dancers are taking to the stage in Milford Haven this Saturday (June 14) to raise money for charity and ‘give something back’ to their families.
Best friends Laura Venables, 21, and Eleri Buck are hosting a fundraising concert at the Torch Theatre in aid of the HOPE MS Centre, in Neyland, and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Nineteen-year-old Eleri was inspired to raise money by her mum Nina, who died of Sudden Adult Death syndrome in 2008, aged just 41.
And Laura’s dad Nigel, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 14 years ago, relies on the physiotherapy he receives at HOPE to keep his muscles moving.
The friends, who have danced together for years, feel the show is a great way to help two worthy charities, and do something to make their families proud.
Acts taking to the stage will include local dance companies On Your Toes, Unison and Groundswell Dance Company. Laura and Eleri will also be performing, along with Eleri’s younger sisters Fleur, Lucy and Daisy.
Local bands The Review and 2’s Enough and local singers Ian Evans, Amber Aldridge, Carys Evans, Kamille Tiglao, Rosanna Cale and Laura’s twin brother Mark complete the line-up
Tickets for Laura and Eleri’s ‘Pembrokeshire Talent Charity Show' are £8 for adults and £5 for children, and are available by calling the Torch Theatre Box Office on 01646 695267.
“I feel like every day, you’ve got to live for it now,” Eleri.
Any money we raise will be great, but we would love it to be sold out, said Eleri.
Inspired by their own experiences, the girls want to raise essential funds and awareness.
Have always been there for eachother
Eleri Buck, 19, from Neyland.
Laura, 21, from Haverfordwest.
In 2012, Laura raised £2,000 for the HOPE MS centre by completing a skydive.
“There’s more pressure with this though, we have to get 300 people to come and watch,” she said.
Having grown up performing with Unison dance group, both girls say dance has helped them.
“It takes your mind off other things, it’s given us focus.” Said Laura
