YOUNG people will be working with local police to give a local memorial garden a much-needed makeover.
Members of Hubberston and Hakin Youth Club will work with police community support officer Tess Williams to weed, tidy and lay bark mulch at Hubberston Memorial Garden.
Weather permitting, the clean-up will take place on Thursday, June 26, and will ensure the garden is looking its best on August 4, when a service of commemoration will be held to mark the outbreak of WW1.
The service, conducted by the rector Rev Andy Bookless, will start at 3pm in the Memorial Hall at Hubberston Community Centre. A warm invitation to attend is extended to everyone.
Hubberston county councillor Viv Stoddart said she was delighted at the support from the young people and the police.
She thanked Keep Wales Tidy’s project officer Mari Williams for the offer to provide protective gloves and hand tools for the volunteer gardeners.
Cllr Stoddart added that donations of bark mulch will be very welcome.
