The above is quite interesting and equally as worrying. People have told me that we have inadequate ambulance coverage. This I do not believe has been mentioned. I think its something stupid like 5 or 6 ambulances in the whole of our County. Doesnt take much imagination to work out what happens if there are a serious of injuries or emergencies that we havent got enough to cope does it.
No great fan of Neil Kinnockbut I do remember a speech he made where he said something along the lines of do not fall ill, do not grow old -

His words really resonante don't they ?
I liked Neil Kinnock the news papers and media of the time made him look a fool and he was anything but that. Yes dont fall ill, dont go to hospital and dont grow old. Problem is that we all do and another issue is ageism in the NHS which is frightening. Young people today cannot grasp the situation and why should they Youth is oblivious to the problems of old age, it is something a long way away and that is the nature of things. I didnt consider it when I was a young thing but as I get older and I see Pembrokeshire people become more and more remote from essential services the message is getting home quickly!"

Full paediatric care will remain until October at Withybush

THE reduction of inpatient hospital care for children in Pembrokeshire will be delayed until October, the health board has confirmed.

The stalling of plans to move full, overnight paediatric services from Withybush Hospital comes following requests from senior children’s doctors who had objected to the proposals.

Questions had also been raised about the safety of A&E overnight without access to paediatric doctors.

The service had due to be moved to Glangwili hospital in Carmarthen in August when changes to neonatal, maternity and gynaecological services will also be made.

A Hywel Dda University Health Board spokesman said: “Changes to neonatal, maternity and gynaecology services in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire are still on course to take place on 4 August 2014.

“Following requests from our senior children’s doctors and nurses we have agreed to postpone the changes to hospital based children’s services (paediatrics) until October 2014.

“This will provide us with additional time to recruit the new doctors and nurses needed to deliver the new services and to put the required policies and protocols in place.

“Paediatric services will be provided on a 24/7 basis at both Withybush and Glangwili Hospitals for this short time. Further information about the changes to paediatrics services now planned for October will be widely shared as soon as it is available.”
