A NEYLAND dog breeder is over the moon having bagged a top prize at the recent Welsh Game Fair.

Whippet breeder and exhibitor Martin Bristow entered one of his homebred bitches in the puppy class in the dog show at Pembrey Country Park on June 15.

Glasrhedyn Simply The Best lived up to her Kennel Club registered name and fought off stiff competition from 20 other pups to win the class.

Phoebe as she is known as by her owner Sue Bojanowski then went on to compete against the adult winning dog and bitch to win the championship best whippet.

She was awarded the covered shield on which her name will be engraved.

When asked the secret of his success with the breed, Martin said: “I try to breed quality puppies and this litter had that in abundance.

“To win the puppy class against such strong competition is a great achievement, but to go on and taken the championship, beating over 60 dogs, is the icing on the cake.”

Martin added: “I am delighted to get this award for one of my pups. I am so proud of Phoebe and so pleased for her owner Sue.”
