A PEMBROKESHIRE family business is celebrating in style after winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at a top Welsh ceremony.

Todaro’s Hair and Beauty, which has salons in Milford Haven and Haverfordwest, received the accolade at the inaugural Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards presented by Fake Bake, held in Cardiff.

Founded over 50 years ago by Frank Todaro, the company is now run by the third generation of the Todaro family.

The award comes just months after Mr Todaro lost a long battle with cancer at the age of 83.

He would have been very proud of the recognition, which is tribute to the ‘wonderful legacy’ which he has left, said his eldest son, Domenico Todaro.

“The family is delighted to win this prestigious award, as it recognises the amazing work done by our parents, Frank and Rosa Todaro, over the last 52 years,” he added.

The awards were based on public nominations which received thousands of votes in 22 specialist categories.

More than 300 people attended the ceremony at the Cardiff City Stadium to celebrate and reward some of the top hair and beauty experts in Wales.

The awards also helped raise over £1,600 for the official charity partner, Make a Wish Foundation UK, which grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Also making the grade was Kirsti Flynn of Salt Boutique, Milford Haven, who was named Fake Bake Spray Tanner of the Year in the awards, with Kat Kingsley of Pro Nails, Haverfordwest, among the category finalists.

Other local finalists were Lamphey Court and Spa (Spa of the Year); Well Spa Retreat, Bluestone (Best Marketing Campaign); Laura Kirkby, Hair and Beauty by Laura (Make Up Specialist of the Year) and Lauren Lloyd (Nail Technician of the Year).
