WITH cash prizes, cartoon favourites and plenty of fancy dress fun, this year’s St Ishmaels Carnival promises to be better than ever.

Taking place on Saturday, August 9, the open-themed parade will start from North Hall Estate at 2pm, with entry from 1.30pm at North Hall.

The parade, consisting of floats and walkers, will go through the village before ending up at the Sports Field, where there will be a children’s entertainer, magician, fair ground and a live set on stage by musician Steve Bartram, plus plenty more.

And mingling with the crowd will be characters from the popular Disney film Frozen.

There will be cash prizes for best floats and walking entries, as well as tickets to Folly Farm, Heatherton and Manor House Park among the great prizes on offer in the raffle.

The party continues into the evening as comedian and singer Paul Dazeley is to take the stage, supported by DJ Mark Devs Disco.

This year, starting Monday and continuing right through to the following Thursday, judges will be looking for the best decorated property-which could be anything from the house itself, or the garage, to a scarecrow in the garden- to be judged on the Thursday night. The winner will receive a cash prize.

Committee member Adrian Griffiths, one of the main carnival organisers, said he has been ‘overwhelmed’ with the support from local companies and businesses, and is extremely grateful to its main sponsor GenPower, which has kindly donated a lawn mower as prize for most exceptional carnival float or walking entry.

He also thanked Pembrokeshire Building and Plumbing supplies, which is sponsoring the Tug of War.

A £1 entry fee to the carnival field is asked as a donation.
