CRUISE ships will soon be decked out with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s award-winning retro posters after presentations to a vessel from Princess Cruise Lines visiting the Port of Milford Haven.

The cruise liner Ocean Princess docked at Milford Haven on Sunday, August 17, where the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA) chairman Cllr Mike James and representatives of the Port of Milford Haven met with Capt Rikard Lorentzen.

The Chairman presented Capt Lorentzen with a set of posters for the Ocean Princess, along with additional sets which will be distributed over the summer period to the company’s other cruise ships.

Cllr James said: “We hope the posters will encourage visitors to find out more about the area and that they will return to Pembrokeshire to explore and discover what is on offer across the county.

“I’m delighted that we were able to work with the Port of Milford Haven to help promote the National Park to the many thousands of passengers who travel world-wide on this and other Princess Cruise liners.”

The Ocean Princess will visit Milford Haven again tomorrow (Thursday), for its third visit to the port in a month.

The vessel is due to arrive at 8am and leave at 5pm.

Several quayside events have been arranged to welcome the passengers ashore, including local dance group FF Dancers, a birds of prey display and a classic car display.

Sue Blanchard-Williams, Cruise Development Officer at the Port of Milford Haven said numbers for those visiting were increasing annually, with around 5,000 passengers expected this year – compared with 3,000 last year.

With the cruise line visits anticipated to generate over £320,000 in visitor spend in 2014, she said the visits are also a great boost for the county’s economy.
