WHEN it comes to online reviews some businesses love them, some hate them, but there's no doubting that they can be a useful tool when it comes to attracting new business.

Informed and genuine comment can assist both potential customers and business owners, while negative reviews and comments are a challenge that needs tackling.

One Pembrokeshire business is reaping the rewards after being recognised as a top performing restaurant as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor.

The Paskeston Hall Country House at Cosheston is among the many Pembrokeshire businesses to have received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award.

The accolade is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

During 2014 Paskeston Hall has been proud to be consistently rated as the No 1 restaurant out of 486 restaurants in Pembrokeshire.

The TripAdvisor ratings take account of reviews, overall ratings, volume and history of reviews. Additional criteria includes a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.

Lorraine Wingert Scheeres, of the country house, said: “There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence; we have welcomed both regular local visitors and visitors from many countries such as the USA, Germany, Malaysia and the Netherlands who have sought a true “British Afternoon Tea” experience and comfortable accommodation."

Recent guests have included the Quek family from Singapore who are pictured enjoying afternoon tea last month.

David Scheeres said the team had been amazed to welcome the family.

"They made a complete diversion to visit us as they felt their research on TripAdvisor would lead them to a perfect quintessential 'English' experience in Pembrokeshire! They left a great remark in our guest book," he said.

The business prides itself on its unique dining experience.

"Some of our visitors have taken tea at the Ritz and have reported that their experience in Pembrokeshire was superior for many reasons, including ambience.

"We only offer afternoon tea and in a child free environment, not that we have a problem with children as we have five of our own and seven grandchildren, but we want to offer an unhurried and tranquil experience for our guests."

Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for Business, said: “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers. From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”
