THE team behind the marketing of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has been shortlisted for two prestigious public relations awards.

The Authority’s communications and marketing team will soon go head to head with other teams across Wales in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Cymru Wales PRide Awards.

The visitor newspaper Coast to Coast has been named in the Best External Publication category, while the team behind it has been included in the shortlist for the coveted Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team category.

Marie Edwards, the Authority’s communications and marketing manager, said: “The team has been tremendously successful in raising awareness of the National Park and the Authority in the UK and further afield despite the challenging economic climate facing the organisation in recent years.

“It’s a fantastic honour to be shortlisted for these awards and to receive recognition from industry leaders that our team is one of the best in Wales and has delivered one of the finest external publications.

“Our varied work has included a number of recent successes, from delivering the high-profile marketing of the Wales Coast Path on behalf of the Welsh Government, to helping to secure the filming of a number of blockbuster Hollywood movies filmed in the Park. Both areas of work have generated additional income and an enhanced international profile for the Park.”

The Authority’s award-winning retro posters, developed by the team, continue their successful run, and there has also been notable success online, with a 21% increase in website hits and a 63% increase in social media engagement.

Around 225,000 copies of Coast to Coast are distributed throughout Pembrokeshire each year, with thousands more viewing the publication online or downloading the Coast to Coast app. A recent independent survey of the newspaper also revealed an incredible 99% user and advertiser satisfaction rate.

National Park Authority chairman Cllr Mike James added: “The team should be extremely proud to have been shortlisted for two of these prestigious awards, which follows on from an incredibly successful few years and emphasises the high calibre of officers we have working for the Authority.

“The team works tirelessly to promote the National Park and the Authority in so many different ways, including the ever popular Coast to Coast, which continues to go from strength to strength.”

The team will discover if they have won their categories at an awards ceremony held in Cardiff on October 24.
