VICTIMS of domestic abuse will be able to settle in to a local refuge a little easier, thanks to a donation from local church members.

Members of the Milford Haven branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' Relief Society have donated 'comfort bags' bags to a Haverfordwest-based women's refuge.

Assisted by other women of the church from around south west Wales, a total of 25 bags were sewn and filled for this very worthy cause.

They were handed to the refuge last Thursday , and a spokesman said they were most grateful for the contribution.

The bags, which include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sanitary equipment, soap, hair brushes, and other toiletries, are given to women who have bravely decided to leave an abusive home or relationship and seek help.

"They contain all the essentials," said a refuge spokesman.

"Some ladies come in with literally just the clothes on their back. We have towels and bedding, but these bags contain all the basics, things like toothpaste and flannels - things that can't really be shared.

"When you're moving away from your home in a rush, you don't think of stuff like that, and it's the stuff you really need."
