A MILFORD Haven PCSO is making another appeal for information, after vandals targeted a local primary school during the summer holidays.

Children starting a new term at the Meads Infant and Nursery School, in Milford Haven, last month were crushed to discover their beloved ‘forest school’ area had been vandalised.

Chairs had been smashed up, the area was littered with broken glass, and fires had destroyed much of the wood bark covering the area.

PCSO Stacy Thomas, who was among the team of local volunteers that helped clean up the area last month, said she is still determined to track the vandals down.

She said she is also keen to make sure the incident, which caused around £300 of damage, did not happen again.

“If anyone sees people hanging around the school after hours, please get in touch,” she said.

PCSO Thomas said a letter sent to her by schoolchildren asking for her help showed how much the garden meant to them.

“This has been very upsetting for the children, and the school now has to try to find the money to replace everything that was damaged,” she said.

Meads School administrative office Marion Sizer said: “We were all very upset when we returned to school for the start of the autumn term and saw the damage that had been done to our forest.

“The children were all excited to be in their new classes but were very disappointed when they couldn’t use the forest for their outdoor lessons because of the damage.

She said pupils were very grateful to the police and members of Milford Haven Youth Centre who helped clear the area, which is now being used again on a daily basis.

Anyone who wants to come forward can contact PCSO Stacy Thomas by phoning Milford Haven Police Station on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
