Cetacean spotting charity, Sea Trust, is appealing for information on a distinctive dolphin which has returned to Pembrokeshire after a year away.

Clet, a young male bottlenose dolphin with a distinguishing split dorsal fin, was first spotted in Fishguard Harbour on February 4 last year.

Other dolphin spotters saw Sea Trust's coverage of Clet on its Whales in Wales blog and were able to provide further information on his movements: He had been seen in France between 2008-10, then hung around the south coast of England until spotted in Fishguard last February

He then turned up in Penzance and Ireland before arriving at the Isle of Mull off the coast of Western Scotland at the beginning of December.

On December 29, Sea Trust staff and volunteers were returning to Fishguard on the Stena Europe completing when the deckhands spotted a dolphin with Clet's distinctive dorsal markings riding in the bow wave of the ferry.

Soon after local fisherman Titch and Gethin Rees were heading ashore in a small dingy when a dolphin started following them and bumping into the boat.

Titch contacted Sea Trust and identified the dolphin as Clet from their photos.

On Sunday night (January 9) the charity received reports that a dolphin with a split fin was chasing the boats around in Milford Haven.

"It looks like Clet is alive and well in the Haven," said Sea Trust founder Cliff Benson. "We will be trying to get more information on him and would love it if your readers could let us know if they see him."
