MEMBERS of the recently closed Haven Credit Union (HCU) which closed suddenly earlier this month can now access a collection point opened by Saveesay.

Saveeasy, a Llanelli based Credit Union with an office in Haverfordwest, is opening a collection point at Pembroke Town Hall.

On Wednesday (March 18) members of the former Haven Credit Union at invited to come along to the Town Hall from 9.15am.

Saveeasy general manager Jeff Hopkins said: “We are open to all members of Haven Credit Union and are anxious to recruit. We have reached an understanding with many of the volunteer collection points, particularly in the Pembroke area, to continue with the current system.

“The Board of Saveeasy have every confidence in building a substantial credit union in Pembrokeshire employing local people.”

The directors of HCU informed the Prudential Regulation Authority of their intention to engage Paul Brindley of Midlands Business Recovery to manage the closure process.

Haven Credit Union (HCU) launched in Pembroke in 1993. Its office was in Milford Haven and it has just over 1,000 members.

Members were told their money is safe.

A letter to Mr Brindley from Mr Hopkins adds that the Board expresses an interest in outstanding loans subject to “scrutiny and due diligence”, school collections will be maintained and Saveeasy was open to transfer of CTF accounts.
