DAVE Stewart is being a touch oversimplistic when he suggests that legislation be introduced to ensure that a "block policy" should apply to tenemental properties (Letters, December 21). First, there are perhaps six or more separate flats and therefore ownerships within each building. Secondly, by virtue of building societies, banks, etc, there are normally extended financial interests who may demand varying insurance cover. Changing ownerships of the various properties would add to an already complex position.

I appreciate that Mr Stewart's frustrations may well arise from personal experience but I do not think these would be resolved by a "one for all" block insurance policy.
