GORDON CURRIE A grandmother yesterday won a legal battle against her daughter - but only after agreeing to stop giving sweets to her grandchildren.

Elsie Melville took her daughter, Donna, to Perth Sheriff Court seeking contact with her four grandchildren. It followed an incident in which Ms Melville believed her mother had called in the SSPCA to visit her home because of concerns about her two dogs.

Ms Melville said she was concerned about her mother's domineering nature and the number of sweets she lavished on the children. Mrs Melville told the court she would refrain from giving the children sweets.

She was granted contact for two hours once a month. The sheriff told the children to confess if their grandmother broke her promise.
