PATIENTS have not benefited from the hundreds of millions of pounds spent on pay increases for doctors and consultants in Scotland, according to a survey of NHS finance managers. However, doctors' representatives have defended the deals, which cost the executive an additional GBP291m last year, claiming they resulted in better patient care.
