COLOMBO: Angry mourners burned three buses and threw stones at Sri
Lankan government ministers attending the funeral of a military
commander killed by a Tamil rebel landmine. In a reprise of the funeral
on Monday for another victim, police tried to disperse the crowd by
firing into the air and using repeated rounds of teargas. But mourners
spilled outside the cemetery, setting the buses ablaze and throwing
stones at pursuing police.
