HONG KONG: Britain was yesterday asking Beijing to step up

arrangements to take back the hundreds of Vietnamese refugees flooding

into Hong Kong from China. Foreign Office Minister Mark Lennox-Boyd was

delivering the request ''forcefully'' to the Chinese charge d'affaires,

Zheng Jinjiong. Last month China agreed to start taking them back but

none has yet returned. More have arrived, making the total about 2000.
