NEW art equipment funded by the Port of Milford Haven is enabling veterans and vulnerable people in Pembrokeshire to become more engaged with others around them.

The VC Gallery in Haverfordwest offers help to individuals who are faced with a wide spectrum of issues, from mental health to employment and social welfare.

The group applied to the Port’s Community Fund in order to purchase materials such as paints and brushes.

Its aim now is to work on a project entitled ‘Momentum of Change - Milford Haven’ which will feature a series of intergenerational workshops to create art based on Milford Haven’s history, followed by an exhibition.

Barry John MBE, manager of the VC Gallery, was delighted with the funding.

He said: “The VC Gallery appreciates the help received for the equipment, which we will utilise in the creative engagement that we do on a daily basis.

"Receiving assistance from the Port shows the support they give to grass roots projects that have a big impact on the individuals they are designed for and we thank them for this donation”.

A spokesman for the Port added: “Innovative projects like this really capture peoples’ imaginations and we’re looking forward to seeing the work that is produced in the final exhibition.”
