DANCERS from Milford Haven are celebrating, after claiming first place at the Welsh Streetdance Organisation Streetslam Dance Championships in Cardiff on Sunday, March 22.

Representing Pembrokeshire, Unison’s 17 years and over formation team secured first place with an outstanding routine choreographed by Sean Griffiths.

Competing in the group were Kim Tiglao, Kamille Tiglao, Lee Parsley, Eleri Buck, Sophie Adams, Sara Smith, Charlotte Allerton, Emma Picton, Tyler Kendall-Day, Daisy Buck, Lydia Warby, Lydia Picton, Elise McCarthy, Jessica Hall, Katie Bowie-Hallam and Megan Conway.

The 16-strong team was delighted to bring the trophy back to Pembrokeshire.

Team leader Mo Tansey said: “I am particularly proud of the dancers for winning this title as some of the girls are just 13 or 14 years old and competed against teams made up of over 17-year-olds.”

Also competing on the day was six and under soloist Lacie Button, and Grace Hopson and Lillie Duncan - 12 and under soloists and duo.

Grace qualified in her solo heat and advanced to the finals but was narrowly pipped to the post for a medal.

Competing in the 17 and over duo category were Kim and Kamille Tiglao, Eleri Buck and Lee Parsley and Sophie Adams and Charlotte Allerton.

Kim and Kamille were delighted to take the gold home, with Eleri and Lee coming fourth in this category.

Jessica Hall and Katie Bowie-Hallam also advanced to the finals in the 16 and under duo category, coming third against 19 other entrants.

Lydia Warby and Megan Conway, and Elise McCarthy and Daisy Buck also represented Unison in the 16 and under duo category, but narrowly missed out on being placed.

The dancers are now working hard towards the UDO Streetdance World Qualifiers which will take place at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, in August this year where they will once again be flying the flag for Pembrokeshire.
