MILFORD'S much-anticipated Fish Festival kicks off at 10am this Saturday (June 27), with a performance from X Factor finalist Jay James Picton.

It will be all 'about the bass' at Milford Fish Docks, as Jay and a host of great other acts take to the Radio Pembrokeshire stage, including Pembrokeshire Ukulele Pirates and Milford Haven Town Band.

Live cookery demonstrations will be on offer in the food demonstration area, with guest appearance from celebrity chef Stephen Terry, who has featured by the BBC’s Great British Menu; Lisa Fearn from the Pumpkin Patch Kitchen & Garden and Ellen Picton from Healthaspire.

Also on the menu will be the inaugural Milford Chowder Trail, with cafes and restaurants around the marina competing to be crowned ‘Milford Chowder Champion 2015’.

Local artist Dorian Spencer Davies will unveil a specially commissioned piece of art to celebrate Milford Fish Festival, and children visiting the festival will have the chance to have a close look at the range of marine species that live in the waters around Pembrokeshire’s coastline, thanks to the Dragon LNG Darwin Centre Experience and Silent World 2 You.

Fun, educational workshops will give youngsters the opportunity to learn about different organisms and touch tanks will be available so that children can get up close and personal with some of the creatures.

Lucy James, marketing manager at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “Everyone is really looking forward to the event on Saturday.

"We have a wide range of stalls and activities lined up which means there will be something for everyone on the day.

"We’re pleased that we’ve been able to stage this event, as so many local businesses depend on the visitors it attracts and the fantastic atmosphere it generates in the town.”
