Three men from Haverfordwest are setting off on a gruelling three-day endurance challenge to raise funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation (PSF) today (Friday).
Joel Hardaker, Ben Nicholls and Baz Pope are setting off from the charity’s Haverfordwest headquarters and cycling 130 miles to Snowdonia. Tomorrow will see the trio of 34-year-olds scale Mount Snowdon, before they cycle another 130 miles back home on September 20.
Last year, Joel lost a “much-loved family member”, his aunt Ann Hart. The care she received from the Foundation inspired him to support the charity, which provides end-of-life care for the terminally ill.
“We could not have made it through this terribly sad time without the help and support of PSF,” said Joel. “Whether it was providing medical assistance and equipment or emotional support, PSF were there for us every step of the way during my aunt’s battle and after her passing. Their work is invaluable and needs our support. This is the reason for our challenge, and we hope people will support us in any way they can.”
Morrisons has sponsored the men by donating food supplies, and a justgiving page set up by Joel has already raised £330.
“Joel asked Ben and myself if we fancied some sort of cycling-related challenge for Paul Sartori,” said Baz. “We are all into cycling so seemed like a good idea! The hard thing will be the continual up and down hills.”
