THE Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven is hosting a one woman show by local artist Sandra Phillips.

Sandra was born and brought up in Pendine, where she still lives and works from a studio in her home.

She was educated at Whitland Grammar School and studied in Liverpool and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She is the winner of many local, national and international awards and her work can be found in private collections worldwide.

Sandra said: “I’m fortunate I was born, live and work in an area of outstanding natural beauty which has proved so inspirational to me. Whether it’s the sheer slopes, hidden lakes and unspoilt mountains of Snowdonia, where almost every feature of the landscape is a suitable subject, or the Pembrokeshire sunsets on the coast or the stark beauty of the Preseli hills or rugged countryside and remote moor land in the Brecon Beacons, all this feeds my inspiration with the light and atmosphere playing their parts in my work.”

David Randell, the gallery director said: “Having had a lifelong interest in art it is only since taking early retirement from full time teaching that Sandra has been able to pursue and develop this interest. She is heavily influenced by the sea, coast and rugged mountains, particularly of Pembrokeshire and can frequently be found painting in any of the three Welsh National Parks."

Sandra will be talking about her work in the gallery on Saturday, September 26 at 2.30pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

The exhibition continues until October 10 and the gallery is open from Monday to Saturday, between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
