AN ELDERLY woman was taken to hospital this morning (Wednesday) after having her handbag snatched in Pembroke Dock’s Memorial Park.

She was walking her Jack Russell dog near the cycle path at the top of the park at around 11.25am when she was attacked by a young man.

The woman received injuries which required hospital treatment.

A spokesman from Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are investigating all lines of enquiry to catch this offender as swiftly as possible and are supporting the victim.

“In addition to the investigation, extra patrols will be carried out in the area to provide reassurance to people living and working in the area.

Detective Inspector Carl Roach added: “Incidents of this nature are rare in Pembroke Dock, a number of officers are involved in carrying out a thorough investigation in order to catch the offender. I would ask people living in the area to check their gardens just in case the handbag has been thrown in.

I urge anyone who has information about this incident to please contact police immediately”
