Two women from Haverfordwest are determined to do their bit by flying to Kos today (Thursday) to help Syrian refugees stranded on the Greek island.

TV coverage of the humanitarian crisis moved Zoe Clayton and Carla Thomas, both 25, to take action.

“We decided no matter how small our contribution, we have to do something to help,” said Zoe.

The pair will fly to Kos today, October 1, and plan to stay for three nights. The pair have already raised more than £1,000 towards feeding and supporting refugee families on Kos.

They are paying for their own flights, accommodation and food.

During their stay, the women plan to volunteer their time to local charities.

They plan on helping them to organise and distribute aid to the refugees.

Zoe has set up a fundraising page for anyone wishing to donate – www.gofundme.com/qa3dyt44 – and money raised will be spent mainly on food and water for those in need.

They have also collecting items locally – such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, and wet wipes – to take with them on their mission.
