Councillor Anne Hughes has been appointed as a member of the Milford Haven Port Authority (MHPA) board the Merc can exclusively reveal.
Cllr Hughes told the Merc: "I am the third generation of my family to live in Milford Haven and previous generations of my family have links with the sea so I am delighted to be on the board."
Cllr Hughes has been appointed as a board member for three years after completing a tough interview process.
She also added: "It is very important for us all to work together.
"MHPA, Pembrokeshire County Council and Milford Haven Town Council all need to work together for the good of the community."
Her first official engagement as a member of the MHPA board will be on Friday at her first board meeting.
