PEMBROKESHIRE Cancer Support has been chosen to be the Port of Milford Haven’s Charitable Cause of the Year throughout 2016. It was selected by the Port’s 180-strong workforce after a nomination process in December.

The initiative is in its third year and in the past has helped PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship) and Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre.

Being named the Charitable Cause of the Year means that Pembrokeshire Cancer Support will not only receive financial assistance, but will also benefit from fundraising activities, volunteering time, training and donations.

Charity co-ordinator Lyn Neville, who has battled cancer himself, said he was delighted with the news.

He said “We are humbled to have been chosen by the employees of the Port of Milford Haven.

"For a small charity like ours this is a wonderful donation which will help all the cancer sufferers and carers who use our support centre and outreach services.”

Anna Malloy, PR and communications manager at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to support this worthy charity. As a Trust Port we’re committed to supporting the local community and our staff are keen to get involved in a range of projects. It is important to us to be able to make a real difference with the support we provide so we are looking forward to finding out how we can help over the next twelve months.”
